REPULSED WITH SEVERE LOSSES
HOLY CITY FREED
rtiLENBY'S PROCLAMATION TO THE PEOPLE <
True to anticipations, the, ene my on the Western front has made an attempt to re-establish at least some of his shattered prestige by an attack on the British line, selecting the Bulleconrt sector as the point of attack.. The attempt fail ed of its main purpose, the only results accruing to the Germans be ing a small bits out of a salient that had just previously been rend ered useless by 6hell fire. The British inflicted severe losses. The Russian situation appears to have improved slightly. The pro-Ally section of the Bolshevik party is making its influence more strongly felt, but Trotsky adheres to his fanatic idea of organising the proletariat of all the belligerent nations with the idea of stopping the war. In the meantime his performances suggest tho role of an international anarchist. The situation in Italy is hopeful. One correspondent avers that the Austro-German offensive has failed.
