DEATH IN A WAR HOSPITAL. Melbourne, December 12. "Hughie" Mehegan, an ex-champion boxer of Australia, has died in hospital in France. —Pres9 Assn. [Mehegan started his boxing career in 1905, and came into prominence in 1907 when lie defeated Frank Thorn (twice) and Hock Keys, and drew with Bob Turner. From then he fought rceularlv almost up till tho time he joinid the Australian Forcos last year. Ho held the light-weight championship en many occasions, and met some of the best boxers in the world in defence ot it.
