HUTT LICENSING BENCH

QUARTERLY SITTING

The quarterly sitting of the Butt Licensing Committee was held at Lower Hutt yesterday. Present: Messrs. W. G. Riddcll (chairman), J. W. M'Jiwan, J. Cotton, H. ltyder, N. Wclch, and J. Cudby. The police report stated that, on the whole, tho hotels in Petone, Lower Hutt, and Upper Hutt had been well conducted. There were two exceptions. In one case, the hotel had been fairly well conducted, and in th® other case badly conducted. The committee hoped that at the next meetjilg a better report would be forthcoming with regard to tlicse wo hotels. _ A transfer of the licence of the Taita Hotel was granted from W. Moore to Myra Campbell. Mr. J. J. M'Gratli made the application. Mr. E. M. Becchey applied for transfers of the licence of tile Bellovuo Hotel from George Anyon to Nellio St. Leger and tho Central Hotel (Petone) licence from- F. J. Warring to Harriet Maddock. These were granted. Mr. J. .T. M'Gratli, on behalf of tho whole of the licensees in the Valley, made application for permission (under section 160 of tho Licensing Act) to extinguish their lights at 6 o'clock, instead of 10 o'clock. The application was granted.
