OPERATIVE BAKERS
ANNUAL MEETING OF UNION. Tho annual meeting of the Wellington Operative Bakers and Pastrycooks' Union was_ held on vSaturday evening. The following officers were elected by ballot for the ensuing year President, "Mr. A. A. Godfrey,' vice-presi-dent, Mr. F. W. Brewer (unopposed); treasurer, Mr. F. Mawhinriey; committee of management, Messrs. H. Hunsworth, F. W. Brown, H. Graham, J. Newman, R. AV. M'Kenzie, and J. Alien. Tho annual balance-sheet, •which was presented, showed the union to be in a satisfactory financial position, A letter was received from the Wanganui branch secretary stating that tho master bakers and pastrycooks had been met, and, with only one pastrycook dissenting, had granted another war bonus of 10s.-a week, making tho second 10s. granted since tho war began, so that the wages were ,-Sl abovo tho award minimum. A motion was carried instructing the genoral secretary to write to the secretary to tho Wellington Master Bakers' Association with a request that a deputation from the union be received at the next mooting with reference to the granting of a war bonus on of the extra cost of living.
