After the tournament was finished there were drawing competitions on the unper green, in which the element of skill was associated with an element of speculation. But it was all for tho cause, and that was the only thing that mattered. Afern'ooii tea was also served. in the social hall, and that, too, .helped to swell the total.

At the Thorndon Club the president, Mr. H. .1. Collins, intimated to members that the day had been set apart as one 011 which they were, to do something for the boys who were fighting for them all on a foreign .strand, by wav-' of subscribing to tho Christmas Gift Fund. The ladies had dono splendidly, and it-was. the members' turn that afternoon to entertain them with afternoon, tea and a little music.
