The following are the latest quotations for Consols and Colonial Government Securities in comparison with those ruling last week:—
MONET MARKET.' The Bank of England discount rate was on January 2, 1514, reduced from 5 to 4J per cent., on January 22 it was reduced to , 4 per oent.. and on January 28 J per cent. On July 30 the rate was rt'sed to 8 per cent, and on August 1 it was farther advanced to 10 per cent. On August 6 tho rate was reduced to 6 per c-nt., on Augußt 7 it waß further reduced to 5 per cent., on July 13, 1916, it was raised to 6 per cent., on January 12, 1917, it was reduced to 5J per cent., and on April 3 it was further reduced to 5 per cent. ' OPEN MARKET RATES. , The open market discount rate- fur three months' hills is 4} per cent., ob compared with 4} per cent, last week, and 5 9-16 per cent, last year. Short loans are quoted at 41 per oent., as against 4J per cent, last week, and 5 per cent, last year.
COLONIAL AND OTHER PRODUCE. Sugar.—Unchanged. Butter.—None offering. The trade ;b eagerly awaiting distribution. It is generally expected that the Food Controller will be unable to allow the whole quantity applied for. Wheat—Quiet. Few cargoes are offering.'
