PENSIONS AND OTHER MATTERS..

To-night the Napier Returned Sol- J diers' Association passed tho following resolutions:— , . , . 1 "Wo are firmly of opinion that in' the granting of pensions to disabled soldiers and dependants too much consideration is given by the Pensions Board to the reports of local registrars of pensions, and not sufficient to recommendations of tho medical hoards. ' "That wo urge tho Government to expedite tho appointment of a returned soldier to the Pensions Board, as promised, and we emphasise theuocossity of the appointee being nominated bv tho New Zealand "Returned Soldiers Association." . "That this meeting views with re-, grot tho continued use of thc_ words. 'returned soldier' by the Press in con--1 nection with court proceedings and other matters detrimental to tho reputations of the returned soldiers. _ I "That members of the Napier Returned Soldiers' Association wish to publicly express their thanks for and appreciation of tlio kindness and attention continually bestowed upon returned men by Dr. Gilray and his stair at the Napier Hospital." "That this meeting views with strong disapproval the indiiferenco of the Government in dealing with tho enemy alien question, in so largo number of aliens _aro living in comfort amongst us, and in internment camps, instead of being omployed m work of national importance, as nra our fellow-subjects interned in enemy, countries."
