Yesterday a very pleaa.tnt littlo afternoon tea was given at the Red Cross Depot in the Star Boating Sheds for Mrs. Peat by her fellow-workers, as a wolcome after an absonce of about two months from Wellington through sickness in the family. There was a large gathering of the workers, and much pleasure waa felt at hearing of the satisfactory convalescence of the former secretary of tho organisation, Mies Isabel Peat, who had been dangerously ill for some time. Mrs. Peat, who leaves again for Rotonia to-day, hopes to be back at the depot before very long.
This afternoon a salo of work organised by the committee and workers of the St, John Ambulance Brigade Oversoas and Hie Red Cross Society, is to be held at their depot in the Star Boating Sheds, in aid of the King George's Sailors' Day. Mrs. Hall-Thompson (president of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Navy League) will open the sale. A very fine collection of goods, including women's and children's clothing, all beautifully made, work bags, soTdiers' requisites, fancy work of all descriptions, etc.. will be offered for salo. including flowers and sweets. Tliere will also be afternoon tea. It is hoped that there will lie a large attendance of the general public, ns the organisers hope to be able to hand over n substantial sum for "Sailors' Day."
