TEA-ROOM WORKERS
A NEW AWAED.
The Arbitration Court has made its award for workers in private hotsla, oyster saloons, restaurants, and tearooms. Tho award is in tiro parts, the Bret relating to private hotels (the result of an agreement beforo tho Conciliation Council) and the second applying to Dating-liousos. For private hotels tho traces aro as follow Kitchen-workers: From M 10s. to JEI 12s. 6d. per week, females to receive three-fourths of the wages fixed for males, with a minimum of 255. Dining-room workers: From £2 12s. 6d. to ,£1 4s. per week. ,Where board is not provided there shall be an allowance of 15s. per week, and where lodging is not provided 7s. 6d. per weok. . For oyster saloonse, tea and luncheon and refreshment rooms tho Court has fixed tho following wages—Kitchen workers: Where four hands are employed, ■£<> £2 55., .£1 15s„ ,£1 12s. 6d.i three hands, £3 10s., &l 2s. 6d., £1 12s. 6d.; two hands, £2 155., ,£1 155.; one hand, £2; dining; room workers and general waiters, .£2) waitresses, housemaid-waitresses, relieving girls, pantrymaids, -G1 45.; pantrymen, and general hands, .£1 12 s - ( ™- ! oyster-openers, £2 55.; laundresses. £1 55.; bar attendants, and counter-hands, males .£2, females ,£1 4s. Two substantial meals shall be provided for each worker, or one meal and one shilling, except at the D.I.C. and Kirkcaldie and Stains p, where one N substantia! meal and one light meal may v l)e supplied. N Wages for casuals are also fixed, rangin? from ,£1 to 7s. 6d. per day. Other provisions as to hours of work, holidays, preference, place of engagement of workers, etc., are substantially the same as In the old award..
