Red Triangle Cake Room. Tha Red Triangle eako room, open every Wednesday from 10 a.m., in premises above Littlojohn's jewellery establishment, will to-morrow be in charge of Mesdames Laurenson and Kelly and Mies Tonka. The whole enterprise is organised by the .Ladies' Auxiliary of tho Y.M.C.A. for tho purpose of helping the association's war funds, and the effort has proved a decidedly successful one. Tho supply of flowers, home-made cakes, sweets, jams, preserves, and other produce offered for ealo always meets with a brisk demand. Miss H. Hitchings (Napier) is. visitipg Christchurch. . Mr. and Mrs. Troutbeck (Napier) arrived in Wellington early this week from Christchurch. Mme. Alma Gluck, one of the most successful singers in tho United States at the present time, began earning her living as a stenographer in a Now York law office, and rose to fame on the operatic stage in the short space of six years. Though she had sung from childhood, the las? thing her parents thought her suitable for was tho musical profession; so they let her go into an office. And she becamo so interested in the law that she made up her mind to be a lawyer, and even matriculated at the law schools of the University of New York. Laier she was advised to cultivate her voice, and did so, with the result that she signed a five years' contract to sing at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York. The kitchen outfit which is being raffled in aid of the Hobson Street Day at the Wellington Ecd Cross Shop will bo on view at 148 Lambton Quay, two doors away from Mr. T. Pringle's. establishment, and almost directly opposite the Eed Cross Shop. The outfit will be thore for some time to come. Tickets, which cost one shilling, may be obtained from Miss Gladys Nathan, 86 Hobson Street, or from any of the leading city, and suburban shops. The., opportunity of' seeing what the outfit is hko is ono that should most certainly be availed of. Morning and afternoon tea, as well as a liglt lunch (cold meats and salad) will bo provided at tho Wellington Red Cross Shop on Friday by the Spinsters' Club, who will be in charge on that day. As it is expected that there will bo many visitors in.the city at that time, the day being Sailors' .Day, the shop should bo well patronised. There will be homemade mustard pickles, marmalade jam, home-made cakes, sweets, and (lowers, among the various attractions which wiH bo provided, and those who so regularly and earnestly support tho work at the Eed Cross Shop aro asked to visit it on Friday, and help on the efforts which aro being made for tho benefit of our returned soldiera.
