The war dispatches today disclose no material developments in the respective situations involving' the fate of the Russian democracy in tho midst of conflicting issues and parties, and that of the Italians in their defence against the German drive. For the moment, a3 the dispatches make clear, Russia's as an Ally of tho Western Powers has lapsed. The .proletariat "Government," with its executive arm, the Military Revolutionary Committee, having seized tho capital and deposed Kerensky, is busily engaged in the publication of manifestoes and rallying supporters by appeals and inducements, as, for example, tho free return to tho peasants of all private'and ecoleeiastical lands. A report from Berlin, via Amsterdam,'sufjgeets that the Germans will offer tha Leninites ea,sy peace terms. -In the West, Haig has again- struck at the enemy on the Tpres front, north of Passch endaele, and good progress is reported. A joint Franco-British-Italian War Board has been set up to efficiently co-ordinato the ideas and strategy of tho Allies. 3?he Italian member of the War Council ia General Cadorna, whose successor in the com-mand-in-chief is General Biami (this name, as spelt in the cablegrams, is not familiar. It may possibly have been pianglod in transmission), General Allenb/s brilliant advance in Palestine is beiig pushed energetically in further dashes at what is at present a fugitive enemy.
