WANTED-A SMALL BILLIARD TABLE
Sir,—May 1 appeal through your columns for the gift of a small billiard table for use in our institute? Yo« are aware that 6 o'clock closing of publi*houses come? into force on December 1. We aro therefore vtry anxious to make provision for men who may then i.oe our institute, instead of walking the streets, or who would otherwise perhaps ctrift into trouble. Wo have two tables (small), and a third, with the draughts, chess, etc., would be a big attraction for men away from home influence on the nights we have no concerts. The table presented by Messrs. Scales, Ltd., in June, has done yeoman work, and has afforded very real pleasure to the hundreds who liavo used it. Perhaps among the many readers of your journal there are i-orae. who would like to give small sums towards this effort to keep some mother's boy from the danger of the streets. All sums will Jμ acknowledged. 1 hanking you in anticipation,—l am, etc., JAS. MOOKE, . jiissioner, the Sailors' I'riend Society,
