Sales, reported: Walbi-Pacroa, 12s. t>u.; Wilson's Cement (ord.), 245. TALISMAN CONSOLIDATED. Auckland, November 8. During tho month of October the Talisman Consolidated, Ltd., crushed and treated 1400 tons, yielding bullion valued at £13,425. The costs for tho month totalled 765. 3d., made up as follow:—Mine development, 225.; mining, 265.; milling, 225. bu.; general, 6b. 7d. The directors have sent to London the following cablegram :—"No. 15 level: East orogscut, oil south drive, progress 56ft.; No. 16 level, north drive, progress 43ft„ width 30in., no values; Bouth drives, progress 46ft., no values; east crosscut, oft south drive, progress 15ft."

A cat worth .£3OO died recently at Ash Point, Maine, U.S.A. It was the famous American-bred, shaded silver Persian cat, which had won championships at many shows. Miss Macy, its kte owner, said that at the show in Boston recently she' refused an offer of ,£BOO for the animal.
A tax on cats, which was imposed by the town of Pirmasens (Bavaria) has failed. The tax, not unnaturally, Jed to a Yery marked decrease in the number of cats kept by tho inhabitants, ai.:i the result was that the place was soon overrun with rats and mice, whose activities proved disastrous. Attention is drawn to the attractive seaside residence advertised for sale in today's isaue. The property is situated at Muritai, and was tho residence of the lalo W. P. Bhortt. Tho grounds are /beautifully laid out in gardens, shrubberies, tennis, and croquet lawns, whilst the house is thoroughly up-to-date in ev«ry respeot.
