MAffY SPECTACULAR OUTBURSTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Taumarunui, November 5. Th' 6 outbursts from Ngauruhoe on Saturday night,' all day Sunday, and todays were felt liko earthquakes here, and , were accompanied by a noiso like tuo booming of distant cannon. On Sunday and to-day numbers of people ascended, tho hills at Taumarunui and saw many spectacular outbursts from tho volcano cone, tho volumes of smoke rising rapidly, geyserlike, to a great height. There yas a colossal outburst at 12.30 p.m., and another about 2.30 to-day, the vibration being such that windows rattled. Auckland, November 5. The activity displayed by Ngauruhoe since October 20 became neatly intensified during the week-end. From 9 o'clock on Saturday evemng until 3 o'clock on Sunday afternoon the volcano was continuously in eruption. rhere was a Rieantic- explosion _a± 10.M on Saturday night, stones being thrown to a great height, whiles vast quantity of ava flowed down the mountain side. Lava overflowed tho crater again at inidnieht Tho volcano has been comparably quiet to-day. Professor Thome states that Ngauruhoe is «■»«»«*"» for the first time since the eruption of 1869.
