MAYOR AND COUNCILLORS AT LOGGERHEADS

By Telegraph—t'rcee' Association. Marton, October 30. -Since Mr. F. C. Wilson's election ;is Mayor, municipal affairs in Marlon have been-stagnant. There aro stormy meetings mostly every time the council meets, and no business is transacted. Lastnight's meeting reached the climax in affaira, when a previous resolution appointing certain councillors to sub-committees was rescinded, and a motion unanimously carried appointing all the councillors except the *Mayor as a committee of tho council, delegating all powers and dutie:i to it. This practically means the epuncil has power to ignore the Mayor in the future. The Mayor refused to accept a motion of censure against himself for tho alleged writing of an unauthorised letter to the Wanganui "Chronicle" threatening to exclude its representative from the municipal buildings. A motion waa carried that tho council dissociates itself from the Mayor's lotter to the "Chronicle."
