HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MARKET REPORT
The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce lias received the following cablegram, dated London, October 27, from the High Commissioner for New Keahmd. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market priceson spot).
Jleat—Large supplies of home-killed beef, 10! d. and 12|d.; home-killed mutton is in small supply, 13d. No frozen meat has been released by order of tiie Government during this week. N.Z. mutton and lamb, no supplies available, no quotations; Argentine mutton, lljd.; Argentine lamb, lljd.; Patagoniau, 1 Od.; all are in small suppiv; Argentine chilled beef, hinds IHd.; fores, 9id. Butter.—All kinds of butter in small J n Pp'y> and in active demand. The following maximum prices have been fixed: —halted butter, Paris, 25Gs. 3d.; Kew Zealand and Canadian, •"•!<.; American. Argentine, and Australian utisalted butter, Ite. more in each ease. Cheese.—Market continues firm. N.Z.. States Flats, Australian and Canadian at bovernment price; English cheddar, 1375., but holders are not anxious !o sell, in view of higher prices to take cft'ect on and after November 1. Hemp.—Manila and New Zealand markets remain as last reported. Manila, the arrival is reported of 25,001) bales, tor which no rise will occur unless (code word for this, mutilated). New Zealand offerings are very small, and readily absorbed. Wheat.—Wheat is offering in moderate' quantities this week at official quotations. Oats.—Market remains firm.
