GERMANY PROFITS BY RUSSIA'S COLLAPSE
300,000 MEN TRANSFERRED TO HELP AUSTRIA THRILLING STORY OF TITANIC BATTLE ANGLO-FRENCH' ATTACK IN THE WEST FRESH BLOWS IN FRANCE ' AND FLANDERS Freah "details of the titanio battle whichi is raging on. the Au6tro- - Italian front present to-day a, clearer perspeofcive of a situation "which, to quote the language of a semi-official Italian report, is admittedly grave. The Italians, hopeful and determined, and brave, are facing almost the entire Austrian Army, reinforced by 800,000 Germans, all under the supreme command of von Jlackensen, Ab Mr. Ward Price puts it in a thrilling TBview of the opening phases of the battle: "We are ©n the eve of one of those immensely poworful long-planned drives with which the Austrd-Germana seek to crush an adversary by a single staggering blow." He goes on to -tell how Germany, taking advantage of the Russian collapse, transported 300,000 men, with all the military organisation and equipment required for such a large force, to the Italian front, and concentrated them, with fifty. Austrian divisions, on a twentymile front in tli© Julian Tegion. Tho Italians are fighting with splendid Valour, and exacting a heavy toll from the Teuton hordes. The Germans claim that they have capturcd 60,000 prisoners and <50 guns, but the veracity of this remains to be established. The Italian Cabinet has resigned. As a set-off to the crisiß on this front is a cheering array of dispatches from the Western front, telling of new Allied advances in Prance and Bandera and the achievement of all the objectives. The finish and completeness oS the French victory on the Aisne has caused distinct depression in Germany.
