A 65 FEET DIVE

SEAMAN'S UNFORTUNATE EFFORT. An extraordinary accident occurred at the Bailway Wharf, Wellington, yesterday. Several seamen employed on a large barque were spending their time bathing, and some very high diving was indulged in. One of the bathers, Charles Hansen, mounted the yaTd-arm, but his dive was not -well exeouted, and he struck the water with his back. When he came to the surface he was bleeding from the mouth, ears, and nose, and was clearly in a bad way. He is at present in the Public Hospital, suffering from internal injuries. It is estimated that the height Hansen dived from is 65 feet above the harbour.
