NO SALUTES TO MEN OMCERS. There has already been so largo a response to the appeal for recruits for the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps that it is obvious the War Oflico can get the women they want to perform service within their powers, and tlvhs release men for fighting (staffs tho "Daily Mail"). The woman who joins is ns true a soldier as the man she releases from tho Army cooking-pots or desk. Liko the men, she wears khaki, which is a more honourable garb than silks and satins. Six thousand women already wear khaki in Great Britain. A largo number also wear it in France. But many more women aro wanted. Women of education and tact are needed as officers and forewomen. Hut from tho vast majority of thoso who enrol strength, willingness, and capacity in hard employment aro required. Many cooks and waitresses and laundresses and wash-ers-up are wanted. Strong servant girls servo admirably for tlKs purpose; it is not in the least necessary to write o, good letter so long as they can do a good day s work. . Hundreds of motor-car drivers are wanted. They should know how to drive a car and to do small repairs; positions aro open for likely women who aro anxious to learn. For export, women such as clerks, telegraphists, and telephone operators good pay is offered. Women applicants' must bo not less than IS nor more than 40 years old. In exceptional cases a woman over -10 may bo accepted if she possesses education and some ; .xpeneuce in management and organisation- Marriage is no bar. .
