THE FRENCH CABINET'S RESIGNATION
PEESIDENT DECLINES TO ACCEPT IT. Paris, October 23. Following upon a Cabinet. Council, M. Painlevo tendered tbo Cabinet's resignation to the President. 31. Poincare refused to accept it, pointing out that the Chamber on Friday had passed a vote of confidence in the- GoTernment. The Ministers thereupon placed the resignation in the hands of the President of the Council, who will examine the situation. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
CRISIS SETTLED. (Eec. October 24, 8 p.m.) Paris, October 23. Tho Cabinet crisis has been settled, all the Ministers remaining in office except M. Bißot (Foreign Affairs), who will be replaced by M. Barthou (a former Premlor).—lJeuter.
