POLLARD AND BRAN
ALLEGED ADULTERATION. Mr. Nosworthy asked the Minister of Agriculture in the House of Bepresentativos yesterday whether he was aware that merchants were selling what purported to be pollard, but was really a mixture of pollard and bran. Mr. Nosworthy stated that tho last gazetted prices were JX 15s. per ton for pollard and XI VDs. per ton for bran. . People were paying the Government price anu getting only half a mixture of pollard and bran, if that. He asked the Minister to investigate tho matter, and offered to show him samples. Tho Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald, in replv, stated that the Board of lrade had'received complaints on the subject: samples had been analysed, and it was quite true that there Ttas an adulterated mixture of polisrd and bran. The Board of Trade would have to take steps in the matter, and another Order-m-LouncU would have to bo gazetted. A member: Taking action? Mr. Mac Donald: "Yes, taking action The Gazette, he added, would stipulate that ail pollard would have to come up to a certain srade. '
