The Thorndon Bowling Club look advantage of the holiday yesterday to hold rink matches in the morning and a. pairs contest was arranged for Ihe afternoon, but after an hour's play the rain interfered and the games were declared off. The Thorndon Club will meet the Karon Club in a friendly contest next Suiurday afternoon. The rinks to represent Thorndon are as follow Away: Wamble, Nimmo, Johnson, Boss (s.); Murdoch, Hall, Hatch. Newtown teams for Saturday will beas under:—Friendly: v. Te Hiwi, at Te Hiwi—H. Sexton, Underwood, Scott, Princo (s.); Loveetam, Qullie, Hanson, Wyiie (s.); W. C. Head, Leahy, Duff, Laughton (s.) In ft progressive pairs tournament played on the Newtown preen winning skips •were: Spiers, 5 games; J. Pollock, 1 games; J. Laughton, A games. Winning loads: C. Davis, 1 games; W. Chittey, 4 games. On account of tho rain coming on the niunber jt" rounds liad to be cut down. , ~ A full attendance of members of the Hataitai Club took part in a progressive pairs tournament, /which was marred by the strong northerly wind, and had to be abandoned after four gamw had been played, tho following skips winning three games:—Messrs. Hain, Ward, ani. Bailey; and the winner of the leads being Shornev with four games.
