MfCarthy, S.M., a man .named George. .Sfcone .was .charged that while on an overi=ea.i>mp,.and while on tho high seas, he obtained infonna- __ tion which might "be useful to His Majesty's enemies, namely, secret information regard ing the route .movements and position of the said steamship contrary to the Official Seorets Act, 1911 (Imperial) within the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court of New Zealand,, and section 656, Colonial Offences Act, 18i9. Mr. H, F. O'Leary appeared for no cttsed. • ' Chief-Detective Boddam applied.for t remand for a week, which, wjs' granted. Bail was not allowed. .
