On Thursday afternoon, Marist (T) and Porirua met on Association Park to decide the winner of die city and suburban schools' cup and banner. Both teams wore at full strength, and had it not been lor the strong wind which was blowing across tlhe grround the game vrouUl ha\. been well worth witnessing. Porirun, playing with the wind in the first sjm<! were unable to pierce thu Jlarist defence, although the suburban 'boys came very near <loing so towards the end of tho first half. Tancred and Day, the Marist backs, both played well, and were responsible for Porirua's failing to score. The second half was all in' Maristfs favour, Lewis and George on the right-wine; playing exceptionally well together. When the game was half-way through Mnrist scored from a free tick in front of the goal, Cudby beinK the scorer. Porirua rallied under this reverse, ami in spite of the fact that they were playing againsl a rltotisj wind, they came very near to scorins on more than one occasion.
