AN INFANT'S DEATH
• INQUEST ON BODY FOUND IN SUIT-CASE. , , By Telegraph—Press Association. Bunedin, October 18. An inquest on the body of an infant ! found in a suit-case in a chemisfa shop ; on September 22, in connection with ', which a single young woman, named ■■ Mary Walder is charged with murder ■ i was'held to-day. The evidence showed ! that the girl, who had been in di.nvstic I service in Dunedin, went Home lo Lawrence on September 17. returning to Dun- . ; edin on September 22 with her Blotter,- ; and bringing a suit-case with her. The ; mother was unaware of tho birth of the child until her daughter had been visit- i ed by a doctor on September 2i. The i medical evidenco given was to the eftV.t .'. that death was due to asphyxia, and thft ( with the exercise of ordinary care the child would have lived. The depositions of an inquest held on May 29, 1916, : on tho body of a child of the same\to- i man were put in. A verdict that death j was due to asphyxia was returned. ;
