The inter-State Commission's vuvuri <>u tlio high prices of bread and meat in Victoria finds that a lower price than 4s. yd. for wheat would not be fair to the producer under existing conditions. The fixing of prices had killed out gambling. After enumerating various causes for the increase in meat prices, the report adds: "Tho Commissioner is satisfled that there lias been no exploitation of the public in Victoria through the operations of rings or combines, or the manipulation of the ■ market."—Press Assn.
