STARVATION ALLEGED
THE GOVERNMENT AND EDUCATION. "There is no hope from tho present Government," said Mr. W'. H. Foster at last evening's meeting of tho Educational! Institute. "I do not wish to talk sedi- ! lion, but the National Government has taken a deplorable view in Tegard to education. The other day I was an unimportant member of a deputation to i>ir Joseph Ward asking for a small sum of money for purpose! that could only termed admirable. They talk about the nobility of the profession, and say that the future of the country depends on the education of the children, and yet they are not prepared to put down i a .£5 note to help matters. .. . They are > not prepared to put education- on a pro- i per basis. They are starving it right and i left." .
