BOILERMAKERS' DISPUTE
COMPLETE SETTLEMENT. When the Conciliation Council last week failed to effect a in the boiler-makers' dispute, the Commissioner -{ilr. W. H. Hagger) suggested that the union assessors should submit a further proposal to members which might lead to an agreement, This course was adopted, and a meetiiig of the unionjm Saturday night accepted the - which have since been approved by the employers' assessors. The complete agreement thus arrived at provides for an increase of journeymen's wages from Is. 4Hd. to Is. 7id. por hour. There is a provision that labourers shall not be employed cutting out'rivets provided there are boilermakcrs available. Apprentices wages are to be increased by &s. lid. per week in the nrst to fourth years, and : >s. in the fifth year, with ai\ additional increment of 3s. fid. (instead of «s. wl.) in the fourth and fifth years if .the apprentice obtains _ a certificate in grade I mechanical engineering of the utvaiia Guilds of London Institute. Conditions relating to hours, etc.. are those included in the old award. The award will remain in force for two years.
