The vessel will sail at noon for southern ports, and ia fixed'to leave Dunediu on Wedonesday for Wellington, -where she is duo on Saturday. She will Bail the same day for Nelson and Now Plymouth. CANTERBURY COMPANY'S STEAMERS. The Calm is duo here on Wednesday from southern porta and is to sail the sauio day for Wanganui, returning from that port to Wellington ou Friday. She will sail the same day for Lytteiton, Bluff, and Oamaru. The Breeze is due liero on Friday from Eoutuern ports, and is to sail, the,same day for Wanganui. From tile latter port she is due at Wellington on Sunday, and is to sail on Monday for Lytteiton, Dunedin, and Timaru. MONOWAI FOR .DUNEDIN. Tho Monowai left Napier at 1 ji.m, yesterday, and is duo here early this morning, berthing at No. 1 south Queen's Wharf. She is advertised to' sail at noon direct for Dunedin. The rcsaol will call at Lytteiton on her way up from the Otago port. COLLIERS FOR WELLINGTON. The Kamo was to have kit GrcymouUi last night with a load ol coal and timber for Wellington. The U'haugape arrived last. night from Westport. Sue lias a full lond of coal to discharge here. The i\gaior'o left Greymouth at 9 a.m. yesterday for She has a full load of cool for this port, and comes instead of the Ngahere, which was due. on Monday. The Komata left Westport at 8 a.m. yesterday with a load of coal for Wellington. THE GERMAN LINER VATERLAND. ThaL the great German liner Vaierland has again been placed in commission by the United States at an expenditure of a million dollars on repairs occupying less than six mouths, is considered remarkable by shipping men. Ordinarily the repairs necessary would have taken a year but. wax methods prevailed in the dockyard to which she was assigned, and she has been iput into shape in record time. The Vatcrland, with her tonnage of 54,000, is a great acquisition to the American transport tervicc. She can carry 5000 troops across the Atlantic at a speed of 24 knots, which makes her almost immune from submarine attack. Next comes the Georgo Washington, of 25,570 tons, and altogether there are amongst the hundred Hun vessels seized in tho Dnited States ports 16 of more than 10,000 apiece. All were deliberately damaged to as great an extent as possible by their former crews. More than half are again ready for service. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. M. Singleton late chief officer of an oversea steamer, is going south from Auoklani by the Te Anau for orders. Mr. Olellaui, 'second officer of a Union Company's steamer, is at present on holiday leave. Mr. Brocket, late acting-third officer of the Tc Anau, has joined an oversea vessel as fourth officer. Mr. E. Poison, of tho Auckland office staff of the New Zealand Shipping Company, has volunteered for active service, and leaves to go into camp on October 18. The Waterside Workers' Sick and Benefit .Club held a meeting last evening to elect officers nnii a committee. There was a large attendance! and the election resulted as under:—President, Mr. W.
