MASTERTON MEETING LADY/ LOUISA WINS 810 HANDICAP. (B.v Telegraph-Special Correspondent.) Mastorton, October 12. Tho weather was line,' and the're was a largo attendance, for, tho second day of the Mastorton races. The going was heavy. Tho totit-lisator handled £20,520, making £37,030 for tho meeting, an easy record for the club. , , Tho opening eveut was contested by a good field. Arrowileld was a slightly better favourite than Black Hill and 'lhoughtful, who wcro evenly backed. At the start Paddlngtou Green and Association showed the way to a bunohed field, while Ihe Golfer was slow to move. Down tho back the favourite got a bad run, and was stopped again on tho bend. In the straight Black Hill Bhowed out; hut tho favourite camo very fast and got up iu -time to win by a head. Taddington Green was third, and then camo Lady Edith. Lingerie, who was being produced for tho first time, was inado the publiu choice in tho Telephone Handicap, but it waa a good betting race, and thero was plenty of support for Gaziquc, Merrio' Poto, and Orowhurst. At tho start tho favourites were all slow to find their feet, and Comment Bhowed out for a furlong, but Lingerie soon ran to the front, and was first wto the straight. Hero Orowhurst shot out and soon settled the Finland filly, who stopped badly. Tho Welleslcy Stakes winner, won comfortably, whilo Moutoa Queen heat Merrie I'oto by a head. Great interest was centred in tho Juvenile Handicap, and the youngsters had a big levee in the birdcage. In tho preliminaries Pireans and Bamien moved very smartly, as did Cherry Mart End Oratress. From a fair-start Damicn and Wawata wero tho first to show out; while Oratress dwelt slightly. Entoring tho straight Cherry Mart and Bamien wore in front, hut Bo Peep, who had run wide at the turn, quickly caught tho winner aud scored very decisively. Wawata was running on well, and just beat the fast finishing Piraeus. Cherry Mart was fourth. The winner gave an excellent showing, but probably she is a bit more forward than the others.

For tho Ladies' Purso' there was good support forthcoming for Mattock. Colorado. Sartoline, and Sail Home. At the start tho last-named and Signorella went oil at a good paoe, with tho twq favourites in tho rear. Mattock ran to the front as they raoed to the distance, but Colorado was handy, and over the last bit ho came away and won easily. Sartolino was third, and then came Sail Home and Signorella. Tho winner was ridden by Mr. T. It. Taylor, who waa presented with a gold-mount-ed whip, the annual gift of Mrs. 0. F. Vallance, wife of tho president of the club.

All started in tho Waipipi Handicap, for which Teka was regarded as tho best of good things. Tho race was run at a clipping pace the wholo way, and the leading positions wero changed on innumerable' occasions. Cleft, Undecided, and Goldstrcam were prominent into the straight, where Johnny Walker ran wide on tho outside, and Paraoa became noticeable in the middle. Over tho last bit Lady Louisa ran to the front and won easily from Orleans, who 'an ono of his best races. Paraoa was third, and Teka fourth.

Polynesian, Impediment, nnd Idyllic were backed iu that order for tho Railway Hack Handicap, and tho two latter took part in the finish, but tho favourite got off badly and could only run fourth. At the barrier rise It. Heed, on luipedimont, slipped tho field, and, making evory post a winning one. the Demosthenes flllv won easily from Idyllic, who just beat 5Ma. The latter was always prominent, nnd seems to bo striking form.

Potentiality scored comfortably at the finish of tho Final Woltor Handicap, but up till about fifty yards from home tho isaue was very open. At tho start Bairnsdale and Form Up led from Oardrona. Tho field hunched in the straight, where Probation showed up on tho fence, but over the last bit Potentiality shot out and won nicely. Hauinnkaka beat Form Up for second place. Mascot and Probation wero the next to finish. Tho Linacre colt Aore credited "l£r. W. •Dunoan with his third win at the meeting, when ho appropriated th« concluding event. The success of tho Fbrdell representative was freely anticipated, as he had • showed a lot of pace at Marlon last month. y DETAILED RESULTS. By Telegraph.—Press Association.
