HOTELS DESTROYED BY FIRE

Blenheim, October 12. The Grosvenor Hotel was entirely de-' stroved by tire this morning. The \\ eslev 'Church opposite had a narrow escape. The building was badly scorched and some windows were broken. Practically nothing was saved from the hotel. The insurances on the building, which was owned by A. E. Brunette, total X'i.jO each in the New Zealand. Imperial, and South British offices. The furniture was covered by <tUOO in the North British and .£3oo' in the National. The stock, too, was insured in the National office. The late lessee's licence had been cancelled, and was to expire on Wednesday next, and I lie new lessee was about to'move in. The cause of the hre is unknown. ..,'., Stratford, October 12. Tho Temperance Hotel, of twenty-one i rooms, in the township of Whangamomona, owned' by M'Cluggago Bros aid occupied bv Mrs. Snieder, was totally destroyed bv'fire, the occupants escaping in their night attire. Insurances on tha building are .1:1000 in the South Briash, and on tin fursi'jire £M in the Commercial Onion. The building cost .1 HOD to erect. Auckland, "it toner 12 The Papafcura Hotel was destroyed hydro this morning. The imua:es sot cut with difficulty. Nothing was saved. Wilson's blacksmith's s'lon adjourns was also damaged. The building was owned by Hancock and Co., and was insured for 1250. The stock insurance is not steertaihnble.
