iPEOGEESS OF THE WOEK. "Fair progress is being made on the contract for the new Parliament Buildings under present unfavourable labour conditions," says tho Government Architect in his annual report on publicbuildings. "The quality of the marble coming to hand is improving, and -very few flaws are now met with. The etone. work of the Moleswortk Street 'rontage is nearly completed to ceiling level pf tho first floor, with the exception of columns of the colonnade and parts of the central feature. In the Museum Street front tho stonework is up to ceihng-levcl of the principal floor. "The Houee ■of Representatives has been-roofed in and gallery platforms are being framed by carpenters. The p.-o-menade roof over the lounge 4obby w constructed, and the ceiling of tho latter is plastered. Plastering in the rooms under the lounge lobby nnd the House of Representatives and in a p<>rtion of the rooms in the northern wing has been cloiie. A considerable (juantity of external plastering has been carried out. All eteel-construction work has been executed excepting about 17 tons. The heating and ventilation contract is proceeding slowly, following up as closely as possible . the constructional worK. Drainage work has been. done. .Owing to shortage of labour only fair progress is beijog made with the electrical wort.
