THE RED TRIANGLE FARM
—♦ ( EDUCATING BODT, MIND, AND SPIHT. Education in ite wider application, concerning itself with the entire human being—mind, body, and spirit—ie the point of view that is borne in on one by a visit to Red Triangle Farm Colony, which the Y.M.C.A. have recently established 'on a stpetoh of beautiful moorland, in, Dorsetshire, says an English paper. The establishment is an initial experiment in tho training of discharged soldiers in agricultural and industrial pursuits, and those only are eligible for admission who are suffering from slight tubercular trouble, which, may be arrested within a. reasonable time by the adoption of an outdoor life >nd specific treatment. Specially constructed and hygienically designed huts for the accommodation of the patients aro distributed over a sheltered and wended portion of the estate, and a central building contains dining and recreation rooms. There is an open-air billiard-room, large sheds for workshops, and he're in the most favoured , climate of. England and amid glorious scenery many of those who have broken down in the service of their coun-
try are being' given not only a fresh start in health, but also an insight into outdoor 'occupations. Such men need to be kept out of- cities, and induced to remain ion the land either at Home or in on«" of our overseas Dominions. It is a distinctive feature of the farm colony that, except in those patients whose condition demands absolute rest, idleness is not permitted. The men are put to such useful work as they are capablo of performing with benefit to their health. That this system of graduated labour does restore them to their free working capacity fs proved by the fact that two of the original sis patients have now recovered sufficiently to bold positions on the ■staff of the colony. 'Among many who *re deeply interested in this new department of Y.XI.C.A. work are Cornelia Lady Wlmbone, the Countesa of Leitrim, Lady lioduey, and Lndy Carson. Should the experiment continue to be successful, it is the intention of the Y.M.C.A. to form other colonies in order to aid in solving the problem of .this particular class of sufferers from the war.
