VALUATIONS AND RENTS
HOTELKEEPERS WANT READJUSTMENT. At a meeting of Wellington -hotelkeepers, held in the Empire Hotel yesterday afternoon, it was arranged that a deputation should Trait upon the Finance Committee of the City Council nt next Monday's meeting to urge upon the council the necessity of making a revaluation of hotel properties within the city, in view of the changed conditions which are to come about as the result of the proposed amendments to the Licensing Act (one of wfcich provides for the bo clock closing of hotels). • The hotelkeopers.hoM that the closing of the hotels for «» four -most valuable hours of. the worbng day must seriously affect the value of hotel nroperty, as it must necessarily letter rentals, and they wish tho properties valuedite those which which have to close up at 6 Piu. instead of 10 p.m. .In the case of freehold lessee*. (the licensees of the Eoyal Oak and Midland Hotels) a request will be made for an immediate reduction in the ground rental., which was haled originally °\^TfM'Grath the T exist at present. ; Mr.J. J. will represent the-freehold lessees, and probably Mr. A. Gray, K.C., the other hotelkeepers.
