The Rosamond arrived last night from Tiirakohe, nnd will sail to-day for New Plymouth. Cargo will be received until noon. The Corinna sailed last night for Pictou to load chaff for Onchunga. The vessel .will proceed from Onehunga to New Plymojjlh, where she will load dairy produce for Wellington. After discharge the Corinna will' return to Dunedin. The Wimmera is duo hero this morning from Auckland, and will Bail at 5 p.m. today for Dunedin direct. The vessel is omitting the call at Lyttelton this trip on account of being delayed in the north. The collier Kamo waa to have left Greymouth last night with coal for Wellingtou. The Union Company advise that the collier Poherua was to have loft Port Chalmers last night for Oamaru and AVellington. She is duo here on Monday morning. She will sail on Monday for WestDort. and Greymouth, taking careo for tlioso ports. TileAmokura will come "off the slip this morning, and the Hawera and Blenheim will go up for cleaning and painting. They will bo relaunched on Monday night or Tuesday morning, when tlio Kcitoa and Wakato will tal* their place. The Kahika left Greymouth. at 0.30 a.m. yesterday for Wellington. The Regulus will bring 300 tons of cargo to Wellington this morning from Wanßa* nui. At noon to-dny she will sail for Picton, Nelson, Westport, nnd Greymouth, receiving cargo for those ports at No. 14 (Bouth) .Tuaen'6 Wharf. The Himitangi arrived at • Waitangi (C.1.) on Thursday evening. The Tarawera. is due to-night from Auckland, and will sail on Monday for Lyttelton and Dnnedin, taking cargo only. The Baden Powell is due ncro to-morrow night fom Lyttelton; and will sail on Monday for the south. The Magic will sail to-day for Sandy Bay to load stone for Wellington. The Hokitika Shipping Company, the owners of the lost auxiliary ketch Jane, is reported to be replacing her with tho s.b. Paeroa, a well-known Auckland trader. Captain Hay, of the Nikau, who has been in Wellington eince his vessel was first delayed, left for his home at Nelson by the Pateena yesterday. The harbourmaster at Nelson reports that the trade of the port for the past month had ,been considerably below tho average for this period of tho year, duo to tho laying up of the small steamorß at Wellington, and in oommon with, other ports in the Dominion the effect on trado is being severely felt in Nelson. During the month 87 vessels entered and left'the port—23 Union Company steamers, 54 small steamers, and 10 sailing vessels, having a total of 18,885 tons register, against 26,621 for September, 1916. An instance of the high rates of freight from America -was brought under notice in Timaru the other day. A local firm imported material used in the manufacture of certain parts of farm vehicles and implements. The freight afld charges to the Timaru wharf totalled 160 per cent, on the f.o.b. cost in New York. Freight alone was calculated at £11 15s. per ton. Tho. firm, however, are congratulating themselves that, compared with £13 per ton paid laat month on-other lines of goods landed, they got off lightly. Tho Calm sailed from Lyttelton at noon yesterday for ■Wellington, and on arrival this morning -will berth at No. 1 (south) Queen's Wharf. The .vessel has 600 tons of cargo to discharge here, and will e<u' Inter in the day for Wanganui. She is duo hero from the latter port on Tuesday, and will eaU in tho evening for. Lyttelton, Timaru, Oamaru, and Dunedin> The port of Westport returns for the month of September, 1917, are. as follows— Output and exports of coal, 56,161i14 tons output and 53,112.17 tons export. Of this amount '945 tons were shipped to foreign ports. No. timber was exported.
