FOUR KINDS OF BOMBS
The public cannot too clearly understand the various kinds of -bombs now dropped by German aeroplanes (writes a correspondent of tho "Westminster. Ga j ssette"). A very little consideration' will then make them realise the unnecessary and avoidable risks they run if they will persist in star-gazing 'when hostile aircraft are overhead. The Hun air raiders now drop bombs which fall info four categories: ' 1. Gas bombs—only dangerous in confined spaces. 2. Incendiary bombs—which, do not explode, but start fires. 3. High explosive bombs—which explode on percussion; their fragments mostly fly upwards. To lio down is to avoid most of the danger of wounds. i. The aerial a torpedo or "man-killing bomb." This is the most dangerous of the four types. They fall almosttfilently, with little whistle or shriek, and burst at a given height from the earth, spreading fragments and bullets in a downward spray. Against these lo take corer is t\ip only protection. To tako cover is to minimise tho danger of injury, to gland and stare at the sky from sheer curiosity is folly, and increases tho number of victims.
