THIS WEEK'S PARLIAMENT The Legislative Council met at' 10 a.m. on Saturday, and received, the Imprest Supply Bill that had been passed by the House of Representatives eight hours earlier. The Council passed the Bill and adjourned until Wednesday. . WORK FOR THIS EVENING. The House of Representatives will meet at 7.80 p.m.. to-day. The eveningis to be given to'the discussion of Ministers' answers to questions and private members' Bills. COST OF LIVING. The Cost of Living Committee is expected to present its Parliament this week. The committee has heard a great deal of evidence drawn from all parts of New Zealand, and may make suggestions that will involve legislation during tho prcsorffc session. THE LIQUOR BILL. The Sale of Liquor Restriction Bill, which contains, the'"Bis o'clock closing provision, is due to reappear in the Legislative Council on Thursday or Friday of this week. It was referred to the Statutes Revision Committee in order that might be given, to the problem of adjusting rents as between licensees and owners, in view of the reduction in trade by early closing. The committee has heard a great deal of evidence on the point. WAR PENSIONS. The eonsidwwtion of the War Pensions Bill in committee will be resumed by tho House of Representatives this week. There are indications that the Government will make some minor amendments in tho BiU in the direction of meeting'the wishes of the House. There is a strong feeling among the members that the payment of 7s. 6d. per week for a child is not large enough. EXPEDITIONARY FORCES BILL. The Expeditionary Forces Amendment Bill, which' proposes among other things the exemption of members of the clergy, is awaiting the completion of the_ second reading debate, which was adjourned over a fortnight ago. The position of this Bill, empowering the Government to call up classes •or the residue o'f classes en bloc without ballot when the number of men Tequired does not exceed the number available has since been passed as a separate measure. '
