SHORTAGE. OP FOODSTUFFS.

No steamers having called at Kaikouia for three weeks owing to tho strike of | seamen, and tho roads being impassable on account of flood damage, the position in regard to foodstuffs is 6erious. At a representative meeting this afternoon it was resolved to telegraph Mr. Massey, pointing out tho gravity of the situation, and suggesting that Cabinet at onee appoint a tribunal to deal with the strike or pass legislation regarding maritime matters. / ■
