FARM FOR SOLDIERS

The executive of the vVuiiarapa Putriotic Association to-day voted oL'IOOO to tlio relief of starving Serbians, and £1000 to the Wanarapa huiißt'tri -A uia Y.M.C.A; at tho front. It was decided, after a lengthy discussion, to. abolish the right of service grant of £5 to each returned soldier and dependants of soldier* killed in action. It was announced that Mr. William Perry had donated 320 acres of his properly at Tarataki, valued at about •CTOIJO, for the purpose of a farm for soldiers suffering from shell shock, and mat an adjoining area of 409 acres was being purchased from Air. William Ray< nor at considerably below its market value. Messrs. William Perry, Quinton Donald, and Duncan' At'Oregor are to be appointed trustees, with power to add to their'■ number. The intention is that the trustees shall have full power ot control of the properly, with the nghfc to hand over the farm for an educational purpose- when it has served its usefulness *s a training or rest farm for returned soldiers. The association agreed with the suggestion of the Marlborough Association that training farms .should be established in - suitable centres in different parts of the Dominion, but maintained that the (government should purchase and equip the | same.
It also decided to urge the Government to do something definite in regard to the scheme of land purchase explained by Mr. A. P. Whatman and approved by the Farmers' TJnion.
