Mr. 0. R. Cozens, second engineer on the .Rosamond, ha-s come ashore. Mr. P. E. Sutton, Lyttolton agent for the Opouri Shipping Company,' has fivon regarding tlip wrecked ship Oponri. Mi , . D. Kecsc, who purchased the vessel from tho underwriters, is superintending the work of salvage, and has a large gang of men, who are working from daylight till dark, Sundays included. All the derricks, winches, windlass, steering engine, chains, and anchors have been got ashore, and there is a. eood prospect of salving the engine and boiler?. This particular work will bo rather a dißlcnlt task, as the men are only able to work a few hours each day in tho engine-room, owing to the fact that ten feet of water comes in with the tide. The hull will be a total loss. A heavy cable has been made fast from tho vessel to the shore, and along this runs an aerial tram-for landing tho machinery, a hole having been cut in tho side of tho vessel to facilitate tho work. Tor years past our expertness and reliability have proved of value to business men, and never were they more helpful than now.
