ACCOUNTANT STUDENTS' SOCIETY
A meeting of members of the Wellington Accountant Students' Society was held last evening in the meeting hall, Accountants' Chambers, under the chairmanship of the president (Mr. Ernest W. Hunt, F.P.A., N.Z.). . ■ An interesting and instructive lecture was delivered by Mr. F. A. d'E. Barclay, FIA N.Z., on the subject of Lite Insurance Aocounts." By means of specimen forme and cards, Mr. Barclay gave a practical demonstration of the ingenious methods which have been adopted to keep an accurate record of the accounting and statistical particulars necessary in a well-ordered life insurance office. In order to save time and Inborn- tno use of loose-leaf and card systems has been largely availed of, and the old ci mbersome registers and books ar* .practically things of the past Adding-raa-chines ore also brought into wrote recording accounts, and Mr. Barclays remarks gave considerable jnsight into the methods adopted to cope with the immense and ever-increasing volume ot business connected with a .nrge life insurance society. At the conclusion of his lecture, Mr. Barcky «» warmly thanked. The president announced that at the next meeting of the moiety-Mr. Climmrnes, of the Land-and Income Jax DeZrtmlnt, would deliver a lecture on "The Finance Act, 1917.
