NORWAY'S SHIPPING LOSSES SIX IN ONE WEEK . Christiania, September 18. The Norwegian steamers Askelad (2823 toss) and Heime (1913 tons) have been sunk by submarines. Eleven of the Askelad's crew and ten of the crew ot the Reiine were lost. Sir Norwegian steamers were sunk during the week ending September 15. Norway's losses now total 479 steamers aggregating 777,601 tons, and 160 sailers aggregating 155,582 tons.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable As3n. GERMAN ADMISSION OF FAILURE BAD TIMES PREDICTED. (R-ec. September 19, 9.5 p.m.) London, September IS. The "Daily Chronicle's", Zurich correspondent states that Herr Erzberger, Leader of the Centre Party in the Reichstag, in a speech to his constituents, said that the practical effect of the submarines on England was not noticeable. England remained unooncruered. Before voting on the new war loan the Reichstag should consider Ways to shorten, the w«fr. The fourth year of war would cost ,£2,500,000,000, and a loss of 1250 men killed daily. The world's harvest was bad, and there was a general shortage of coal, fat, and leather, causing greater hardship this coming winter than the past three winters put together. "We cannot have a peace dependent on might and oppression," he said Germany's answer to the Pope, he added; would greatly disappoint the panGermans, and would be a big stride towards a world peace, based on the Reichstag's resolution.
