A MINER'S CLAIM
By Telegraph—Press Association. Westport, September 18. The Supreme Court was occupied yesteiday hearing tho appeal of tfie West-port-Htockton Coal Company Y. Waterson. The respondent was u brnkes.non in the appellant company's colliery, who was injured in a tunnel in September last, and in July claimed damages in the Warden's Court for .£3OO, when the assessors awarded him the full amount claimed and costs. The defendant company appealed in accordance with tho provisions of the Mining Act by way of a rehearing. A jury of four was empanelled, oil tho application of the icspondent, and returned a verdict for the full amount again. By agreement of counsel, certain legal points vero deferred for argument before the Full Court at Wellington.
