ECHO OF RUMANIA'S DEFEAT
■BATTLES' LOST THEOUGH KRUPP'S TREACHERY. The report that Germany is following iher usual tactics and levying blackmail on Rumania in the form of a "war coniribiition" of no less than .£10,000,000, intensifies her treacherous conduct to that country, since, ae lias just been revealed toy a Frenchman, she is directly responBible lor her rapid defeat. It is another of the many acts of treachery to be added to the heavy balance of the Krupp firm at Essen. The facts are given by Charles 'Nordmaun in a very interesting article in tho "Reviio dee Deux Alondes." Ho says:—"The world at largo was puzzled by tho rapid and overwhelming defeat of tho Rumanian Army. The solution of tho puzzle lies in the field of optics. Everyone knows that the ..former friend of the Triple Alliance was provided with Krupp guns coming directly from Essen. But very few know Hint, with a really devilish foresight, the Prussian munitions purveyors wrecked the extremely delicate levelling instruments by filling them with water only, instead of a salt solution whose purpose is to prevent tho freezing of tho liquid. Of course, had the Rumanian Army allied itself with ihe Central Powers, this little 'oversishV would have l>een corrected in due fcime . . .
