GERMAN HATE
A MURDEROUS SONG. Mi. D. T. Curtin, an American join alist, who visited Germany some time after the outbreak of war and spent soveral months travelling about the country noting conditions of life and industry, recently published a striking indictment of the hellish doctrine of hate -nd enmity which ho found being preached in every part of the Kaiser's dominions. Ho mentioned that even the children in Germany were being trained to nourish hatred in their hearts. Hymns of liate were sung in the schools daily. One song, which was particularly popular, contained the following verse:— Over there in the crowded trenches lie's the enemy. We attack him, and only a dog would say that pardon should be given to-day. Strike dead everything which prays for mercy. Shoot everything down like dogs. More enemies, more enemies, bo your prayer in this hour of retribution. The Federal Minister of Defeuco recently directed attention to. this terrible revelation of tbo trne inner feeling of the I people of Germany in regard to the war i and the Allies. It showed, ;>e said, how false was the pose which Germany adopted when she claimed to be yearning ior friendly relations with the Allies.
