THETvELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. The War Relief Association of Wellington met yesterday afternoon. Mr. L. 0. H. Tripp presided. Income and expeiluituro account for August: Expenditure, £SSb 13e. Ud.; income,^7l1 135.3d.; excess of expenditure over income paid out of capital, ,£284 os. Sd. AVithdrawal from Wax Fund account: It had been decided to transfer from the War Fund account the eum of ifilOOO to credit of the imprest account should same be necessary. Contributions since Tasf meeting of the executive: Mr. Martin Chapman, E.C., .£100; "rjladeyedlers,"' 3a." 3d.; Wellington Girls' College, .£4O; sundry contributions, .£3 163.'; total, .£239 19s. Bd. It was reported that tho sub-committee of the Advisory Board set up to consider the question of uniformity of relief recommended the following, which had been adopteu:—"(!) That there fhould be i<o grant by right of eervice in, money or kind, but that any grant in money or kind must be in the discretion of each ■ society taking eaoh case on iis merits. (2) That grants for mufti should he made only in deserving cases. (3) As it is impossible for all societies to make grants for taking up land or starting in business, it is recommended that no society makes large grants for either purpose."
