BRUTAL TREATENT OF BRITISH PRISONERS. (Rcc. September 13, 11 p.m.) London, September 13. Repatriated Australians tell many stories of brutal cruelty and soma coldblooded murders. A petty officer belonging to the Navy was kicked to death in hospital after being wounded in. battle. There were twelve, British soldiers in hospital, sick or wounded. They told the authorities (hat they wens un« able to work. A German non-com-missioned officer thereupon ordered his men to beat the British wounded men with their rifles. The petty officer attempted to striko tho non-commissioned officer, but he was murdered for hie effort. The authorities held an inquiry, but the affair was smoothed over.—'Aus.N.Z. Cable- Aesn.
