RUBY BAY FRUITGROWERS ASSOCIATION
At tho annual meeting of the Ruby Bay Fruitgrowers' Association, held at their rooms in Willis Street on Monday evening, ji good number of tho members were present. Mr. H. Spear was to. elected president and Mr W. W. Gardiner was re-elected vice-president; Mr. M. Porter was re-elected secretary and treasurer, and tho committee was reelected. Satisfaction was expressed with the progress of 'the association for tho past year. .
An interesting report was read from tho.association's supervisors, which dealt mainly with tho development of the members' orchards. The report contained ' the pleasing' statement that at present all the orchards were quite clean of ' diseases and that they would try to keep them free of blight; also that tho trees were making satisfactory progress notwithstanding ; the wet season just experienced, figures wero giveii of progress made as follow: —152 acres cleared and 18,834 fruit trees planted, and nearly 7 miles of hare-proof fencing erected.■'
Tho association starts its third year with 22 members. Some of the' mem bers are at tho war front.
