CHARGE OF SEDUCTION
CLAIM FOE .£20(10 DAMAGES. (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.) Masterton, September 11. A caso was commenced in tho Supreme Court to-day in which John Cross, a .farmer, claimed tho sum of .£2OOO damages from Alexander Colquhoun, a l'armor and a member of tho Expeditionary Force, for alleged seduction of, plaintiff's daughter. Sir John Findlay, K.C., is appearing for the plaintiff, and Mr. T. M. Wil T ford for tho defendant. Tho evidence for the plaintiff went to show that tho young woman attended dances with defendant, and was frequently in his company. She left for Sydney after receiving the sum of £75 from the defendant, for which she gave a receipt, in which she acknowledged that defendant was not responsible for her condition. , When in Sydney she bocaino very ill, and she wrote to defendant, but received no reply. She went under an assumed name, but her parents sub- ; sequontly discovered ,her, and sho was , brought back to New Zeajand! The! principal witness was subjected to a ; lengthy and searching cross-examination by Mr. Wilford. , The case was not concluded when the Court rose. :
