WAR FUNDS COLLECTING COMMITTEE
A Tory enthusiastic meeting of the executive of the "Our Day" Red Cross appeal and Blind Sailors' and Soldiers' I'und was held in tho Red Cross rooms, Jlercer Street, on Thursday Jeveniug. 'I'lie Mayor, Mr. J. P. Luke, C.M.G., presided. Many offers to assist the worthy cause were received. It was resolved that two members of the Navy league bo added to the executive committee, and that the Navy League bo invited to nominate its representatives. Reports were presented from tho subcommittees set !ip to organise the various entertainments, lectures, Paddy's Market, street collections, etc., to bo held in connection with "Our Day." It was' reported that tho Navy League had decided to hold a day on November 16, such day to toe called "Sailors' Day." The executive decided to givo the movement its whole-hearted support. The entertainment sub-cornmitteo's report indicated that they had been very active, miscellaneous concerts, lectures, etc., having been arranged for. The street collections committee reported that arrangements for "Our Day' (October 18) were well in hand, etaUs having been allotted to the various erganisations, , street collections, sale of badges and other matters liaving been arranged. The direct appeal committed announced that the "Women's National Reserve had , iindly undertaken the addressing of the envelopes for the <firect appeal oircular. . The Society of Accountants has gener- ! ously lent' a ■■oom for tho -use of the i ladies engaged in this work. It was decided that the conveners of the sub-com- . mittees be added to the publicity committee.
